THE LIVES OF
A transnational research collaboration with migrant worker organizations in Hong Kong, the Philippines and Indonesia, led by Professor Denise Spitzer (PI, University of Alberta). This project follows the 'life trajectory' of remittances generated by migrant workers from their inception, accumulation, and disbursement within transnational social fields across borders.
This project is supported by an Insight Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
In this transnational participatory action research project, migrant worker organizations play a central role in shaping the research process, which includes surveys, focus groups and visual ethnographic case studies. In Hong Kong, domestic workers were trained to administer surveys and collect data.
