Filipino migrant workers in Hong Kong and Macau assembled to discuss drug-related killings that have victimized family members of Overseas Filipino Workers, and the proposed tax reform and its effects on prices of commodities. Organized by BAYAN Hong Kong & Macau, and co-hosted by the Centre for Criminology and the Department of Sociology.

The screening was co-hosted by the Department of Sociology and the Women's Studies Research Centre, University of Hong, and included a special performance by Erik Santos. The documentary was directed by Baby Ruth Villarama, and follows domestic workers competing in Sunday beauty pageants in Hong Kong.

Approximately 300 Indonesian domestic workers met with the Indonesian Consulate General at a forum co-sponsored by the Department of Sociology and the Centre for Criminology to discuss the criminalization of identification documents and strategize steps to assist domestic worker victims of identity falsification.

During COVID-19 in Hong Kong, migrant domestic workers have faced increased workloads, less rest and reduced access to emergency and legal assistance; yet these issues have rarely been covered in the press. Migrant domestic worker organisers will hold a media briefing for journalists to promote responsible reporting on domestic work issues, discuss the structural factors shaping labour migration and bust harmful myths that distort the realities migrant domestic workers face in Hong Kong.
