A film screening of We Don't Dance For Nothing was followed by a Q&A with the director, Stefanos Tai; actors, Xyza Cada and Miles Sible; and domestic worker creatives, Terenia Puspita, Indonesian filmmaker and photographer, and Maria Nemy Lou Rocio, co-founder of Migrant Writers of Hong Kong: A Chats Over Cha discussion forum on race and representation for minority communities in Hong Kong was facilitated by Christine Vicera, founder and co-director of be/longing.

The 'Training for Trainers' session was a collaborative effort between the Indonesian Migrant Workers Union (IMWU) and the Indonesian Consulate to train Indonesian migrant workers on how to use a health device to assess their health during the COVID pandemic.

HK01 DIY COMMUNITY WORKSHOP 

Elpie was invited by the HK01 to their community market at the Kwun Tong Promenade to display her creations and hold a workshop where she taught attendees how to make a DIY necklace with craft strings.

Domestic worker rights activist Erwiana Sulistyaningsih and documentary filmmaker Gabriel McKail were special guests at a screening of the documentary Erwiana: Justice For All for domestic workers in Hong Kong.

FORUM: OVERSEAS FILIPINO WORKERS' RESPONSE TO EXTRA-JUDICIAL KILLINGS, THE "WAR ON DRUGS" AND TAX REFORM

Filipino migrant workers in Hong Kong and Macau assembled to discuss drug-related killings that have victimized family members of Overseas Filipino Workers, and the proposed tax reform and its effects on prices of commodities. Organized by BAYAN Hong Kong & Macau, and co-hosted by the Centre for Criminology and the Department of Sociology.

The screening was co-hosted by the Department of Sociology and the Women's Studies Research Centre, University of Hong, and included a special performance by Erik Santos. The documentary was directed by Baby Ruth Villarama, and follows domestic workers competing in Sunday beauty pageants in Hong Kong.

The United Filipinos in Hong Kong (UNIFIL-MIGRANTE-HK) and other organizations raised issues and concerns in a meeting with Philippine Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III to develop meaningful solutions and changes in labor policies to protect Overseas Filipino Workers. Organized by UNIFIL-MIGRANTE-HK, co-organized by the Centre of Criminology and the Department of Sociology, HKU.

LEGAL SOCIALISATION FOR INDONESIAN MIGRANT WORKERS IN HONG KONG

Approximately 300 Indonesian domestic workers met with the Indonesian Consulate General at a forum co-sponsored by the Department of Sociology and the Centre for Criminology to discuss the criminalization of identification documents and strategize steps to assist domestic worker victims of identity falsification.

During COVID-19 in Hong Kong, migrant domestic workers have faced increased workloads, less rest and reduced access to emergency and legal assistance; yet these issues have rarely been covered in the press. Migrant domestic worker organisers will hold a media briefing for journalists to promote responsible reporting on domestic work issues, discuss the structural factors shaping labour migration and bust harmful myths that distort the realities migrant domestic workers face in Hong Kong.
